Our organic Gyokuro is matured under full shade for three weeks before plucking, resulting in a hue and palate distinctive from other green teas.
The aroma transports you to a citrus grove where the fragrance of orange blossoms hang in the air. Notes are at once subtle and nostalgic; a savory and earthy, almost vegetal feeling permeates the mouth, beginning with nori and gradually fading into edamame.
This exceptional tea demands a unique brewing method to reach its full potential. Lower water temperature is key, we typically brew at 70°c. Use roughly three to four grams of tea per 100 ml of water, and let steep for a minimum of two minutes. Subsequent steeps require only a minute or two. Gyokuro's best features are its sweetness and mellow aroma. It is better to brew with low temperature water to enhance the sweetness and avoid any bitter taste.
