BaoZhong, also known as Pouchong, treads the line between green tea and oolong tea. It holds the distinction of being the lightest, least oxidized oolong in our collection at 10% fermentation. This tea is perfect for tea lovers that are looking to enjoy something similar to a fine, high elevation whole-leaf green tea with a rounder, less sharp palate. Following the traditional methods, our BaoZhong is prepared twisted, not rolled.
The newest harvest of BaoZhong is floral, light, yet still smooth and sweet-tempered. Notes recall gardenia and sweet pea. The finish is crisp and clean. We've found that under ideal conditions our 2023 BaoZhong remains strong and flavorful for up to four infusions.
Steeping Instructions:
Prepare 6 grams of tea leaf (slightly less than 2 teaspoon) per 100ml of water(about half a cup).
For the first two steeps, 85°c water for no longer than 90 seconds will provide plenty of flavor. From the third steep onward it is fine to add up to thirty additional seconds per steep. For larger vessels (teapots of over 500ml) re-steep potential is usually lower.
